The light needs the darkness
Non-duality in practice

We suffer because we judgmentally divide everything into 'good' and 'bad'. We want success but refuse to accept failure – even though success is born from failure. We want the day but hate the night.
Taoism teaches that all experiences are interconnected. Light cannot exist without darkness. Rest gets its sweetness from tiredness. Joy gets its depth from sorrow.
Understanding non-duality means you stop panicking when winter – the setbacks – arrives. You know it is the precondition for the next summer.
Reflection
What 'darkness' in your life has given you something the light never could?
Today's practice
The next time a difficult feeling arises today: instead of pushing it away, greet it. 'There you are. You belong too.'
